
KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Efforts of the local elders in northern Kunduz province have resulted in liberation of eight more abducted passengers.
These men were abducted last week when the Taliban stopped four busses in Kunduz and abducted tens of passengers, 14 out of which were shot dead, many released but 8 still remain under the Taliban captivity.
Mohammad Aalim, head of elders’ council in Badakhshan, came to Kunduz to ensure the release of the abducted men. He told Salam Watandar the members of Kunduz provincial council helped them liberate the abducted men. He noted that six abducted men were released from Kunduz’s Aliabad and two more from the Chahar Dara district.
Mohammad Yusuf, head of Kunduz provincial council, said in this regard that the rebels have killed between 16 to 18 passengers while eight more remain in their captivity. Mohammad Masoum Hashimi, head of security at the Kunduz police department added that the High Council for Peace (HCP) members and tribal elders from Badakhshan accompanied the police to ensure the liberation of the passengers.
The officials vowed that efforts are underway to liberate the remaining men as well.
