KUNDUZ (SW) – At least 16 security forces got killed in the Taliban-claimed suicide attack and armed assaults in Kunduz province.
According to the spokesman for the provincial governor, Esmat Muradi, the Taliban staged a coordinated assault on security forces in Dasht-e-Archi district last night. He confirmed 10 security forces and eight Taliban insurgents got killed in exchange of fire here.
Muradi claimed the situation is now under the control of the security forces.
The National Directorate of Security said in a statement that a top Taliban commander Syed Mohammad Elyas is also killed.
Meanwhile, a Taliban-claimed suicide attack in Kunduz city on Monday afternoon killed at least six security forces and injured 21 others including 11 civilains.
