ASSADABAD (SW): At least two civilians have been reported dead due to two rockets landing in the provincial capital of the eastern Kunar province on Thursday.
It is not clear who fire these rockets as no individual or groups have taken responsibility for the attack.
Dr. Farooq Sahak, head of the public hospital in Assadabad told Salam Watandar that a total of 42 wounded people were brought to the hospital early morning. He confirmed the death of two people.
This unfortunate incident occurred as the locals were busy in aerial firing to celebrate the 97th Independence Day of the country. Dr. Sahak added that three more wounded people are in critical situation.
Ghani Musmim, spokesman for the provincial governor said in this regard that only one man has died. Eye witnesses said that one of the rockets that caused havoc landed in front of an orphanage and other one in front of a mosque.
