KABUL (SW): Led by Saudi Arabia, a coalition of 34 mainly Muslim countries has been formed against terrorism with its headquarters based in Riyadh the capital of Saudi Arabia.
A number of political experts called the coalition as a new approach by the Saudi Arabia to 'support terrorism'. They believed that Saudi Arabia has been seeking to hide its past acts and wants to actually support terrorism. The newly-formed coalition declared its establishment in a statement yesterday.
The statement said that the member countries have decided to form a military coalition to fight terrorism, corruption and chaos in Muslim countries. The statement also added that the coalition would cooperate with comrade countries and international community to fight terrorism and support peace and world security.
Mohammad Nateqi, a political expert, told Salam Watandar that the member countries in the coalition have played a role in supporting terrorism in the past and they still continue to do so. He said that Saudi Arabia by using such approach would support its proponents and would suppress its opponents.
Mohammad Mohaq, a religious researcher, said that the leader of the coalition (Saudi Arabia) has never been an effective country in fighting the terrorism in the past and is considered as one of the biggest supporters of the Taliban when they were on the rise as a power in Afghanistan. He accused Riyadh as supporter of terrorism and Daesh in Syria and Iraq and said that by forming such coalition, KSA wants to hide the truth and facts.
He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabai would use the so called anti-terrorism alliance as a tool to change the perception of international community towards its policies.
The coalition includes Egypt, Pakistan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, and several African nations. Currently, Saudi Arabia is a member of International Coalition led by the US which has been formed against Daesh.
