KANDAHAR (SW): Zia Durani, spokesperson for the Kandahar Police told Salam Watandar that the last night’s suicide attack on Police Headquarter in Chaman border city was planned by Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency (ISI) in collaboration with the Quetta Council of Taliban.

He added that along with guns and other ammunition, two cell phones were also retrieved from the attackers and it showed that the attackers had contacted the Quetta Council and ISI several times before and during the attack and were guided by them.

The suicide attackers yesterday (Wednesday) attacked the police headquarter and the police checkpoint in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar. According to report, four suicide bombers first detonated a motorcycle full of explosives in front of the Spin Boldak police headquarter and then entered the building.

The spokesperson for the Kandahar Police said that the attack began at 8 pm last night and lasted until 11 pm in which 4 suicide bombers were killed and 3 police officers lost their lives and 3 others were injured.

The Taliban also claimed responsibility for the attack by releasing a newsletter claiming that the Taliban soldiers wearing the police uniform carried out the attack and have killed more than 20 police soldiers.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, spokesperson for the Taliban said the attack was carried out when the police soldiers were busy having dinner, however, Kandahar security officials have rejected the Taliban’s claim.

The Spin Boldak district is located four kilometres from the Durand Line.
