BADAKHSHAN (SW): Security officials in the Kohistan district of Badakhshan told Salam Watandar that the district is under siege by Taliban and the security forces only control the center of the district.
According to the officials, the Taliban has launched a massive assault on the security forces since 1 am last night and is aiming to enter the center of this province and occupy it.
Qurban Mohammad, Police Chief of Kohistan district told Salam Watandar that if the backup troops are not sent to rescue the district, Kohistan will completely fall into the hands of the Taliban.
Sayed Jahangir Karamat, head of security at Badakhshan Police Headquarters informed Salam Watandar that backup troops have been sent to help rescue the district and kick back the Taliban’s assault on the security forces.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for Taliban said the Taliban fighters have seized the police command in Kohistan district.
