KHOST CITY (SW) – Khost residents took to the streets on Wednesday against the alleged transfer of a proposed hospital from the Mosa Khail district.
The protesters said member of the Wolesi Jirga, Kamal Nasir Osoli, had promised during his electoral campaign to help develop a 30-bed hospital in Mosa Khail district. They charged the MP has now conspired to move the proposed hospital to another area of his voters in the province.
The agitators blamed the provincial governor, Hukum Khan Habibi, and former director public health, Gul Habib Shah Ansari, for collaborating in this scheme. The protesters vowed not to back off from their demands.
Meanwhile, Gul Habib Shah Ansari has clarified the location for the district headquarters hospital has been selected in a meeting among officials from the provincial administration, Ministry of Urban Development Affairs, and provincial council.
The governor’s spokesman, Taliban Mangal, said in this regard that the provincial administration has played no role in this matter. He said the locals should sit together to resolve the differences.
The residents of 12 districts in Khost remain deprived of many basic health services.
