KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Karim Khalili and Mohammad Mohaqiq have vehemently criticized the ‘criminal negligence’ of the security forces in preventing Friday’s deadly attack on ceremony marking death anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari.
Addressing a joint press conference on Saturday, the two leaders said organizers had informed the concerned security officials about the ceremony days in advance, but not enough measures were put in place to ensure safety of the people. They said conspiracy has been hatched to sideline the Hazara community through such attacks on mosques, learning centers and sports facilities.
Khalili and Mohaqiq called for detailed probe into Friday’s incident that left over 30 people killed and more than 80 others wounded.
Security analyst, Javed Kohistani, said concerned officials should be held responsible for their failure in preventing the armed attack on the ceremony. Another analyst, Haigul Sulaimankhail said the forces behind such attacks want the war in Afghanistan to never end.
The attack was widely condemned by the President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and the international community.
