KABUL (SW): Khairkhana, a Persian word that means well/ peace but the township with this name in Kabul is now synonymous with street crimes.
A number of residents in Khairkhana area in the capital Kabul have expressed grave concerns over lack of security in the area.
They accused government of being incapable to ensure security in the area, which has seen 11 lives lost over the past two months due to different crimes. The latest victim was a young man called Nadim who was stabbed to death.
Mohammad Naem, Nadim’s father, told Salam Watandar that his son – 17 years old – was stabbed to death by another young man called Haidar. Naem said his son was on his way to mosque to offer the evening prayers. The grieving father said the murderer escaped after killing his son. He said that his son was twice threatened to death by Haidar who constantly asked him “to do him a favor”. "But, we stood against him and finally when he found my son alone, he killed him", he said.
Feraidon Obaidi, Head of Criminal Investigation (CID) police in Kabul, told Salam Watandar that the police is investigating the case and the perpetrator would soon be arrested. Nadim’s family has warned the security organs to arrest Haidar as soon as possible or they would take the matter in their own hands.
This is the 11th murder case, which have taken place over the last two months in Khairkhana. The situation raises serious questions about the security of the residents in the area.
