Key Ministries and institutions still managed by interim heads

19/05/2016

KABUL (SW): It has been several months that key ministries and institutions are managed by the interim heads.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, has recently issued a decree appointing yet another interim head for Kaubl Municipality.

Latif Nazari, a political expert, said that the differences between the two government’s leaders and lack of a firm determination have caused such problem to be changed into a culture now.

He said that if the government’s leaders didn’t set aside their differences, this culture would continue to exist.

Farooq Bashar, another political expert, believed that in addition to the differences between the leaders, lack of attention to the constitution has also added momentum to this very problem.

According to him, the government could not sack their key men from the ministries and that they would be appointed as interim heads for a department at the same ministry.

Dawa Khan Mina Paal, Deputy Spokesman for the President, told Salam Watandar that the government of national unit is committed to all its promises but the situation requires that a number of institutions should be led by the interim heads.

Ministry of Defense, which is one of the great military organs, was managed by Masoom Stanekzai as  an acting minister for months.

It is worth mentioning that the National Directorate of Security (NDS) is still managed by acting director Massoud Andarabi after Rahmatullah Nabil resigned from the post months ago.
