KABUL (SW) – Passengers and transporters on the main Baghlan – Kabul highway told Salam Watandar this key route remains closed since last 12 days.
They said the insurgents have set-up check posts on this key highway, and continue to search and harass passengers.
One such transporter, Syed Fahem, said people are too frightened to travel on this route. A passenger, Mohammad Khan, said his family members are stranded on the Kabul – Baghlan highway for the past two days.
In the meantime, a number of internally displaced persons from the Guzargah Noor district and Pul-e-Khumri district in Baghlan told SW that the Taliban have torched the police and NDS headquarters and clashes erupted between the insurgents and security forces here last night.
Telecommunications remain suspended in various parts of the province.
Despite the ongoing clean-up operation in the province against the insurgents, the raging insecurity and closure of the highway has been criticized by the locals.
