Kazakhstan inaugurates chamber of commerce in Kabul

KABUL (SW): The government of Kazakhstan inaugurates its official chamber of commerce here in Kabul on Wednesday.

Omartai Betimov, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Kabul, said that the inauguration of the chamber would facilitate Kazakh businessmen to invest in Afghanistan and can help expand business ties between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that his country is prepared to support Afghanistan in economy and other sectors.

Officials from both countries emphasized that Afghanistan and Kazakhstan should sign an agreement on trades and business ties which could facilitate investment for the businessmen.

Shaker Kargar, Advisor to the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Central Asian Affairs, said that work on the Lapis Lazuli Rout project, which would connect Afghanistan to the Baltic Sea and Europe, would begin soon this current year.

Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia are the three Baltic countries located in Northeast Europe and are members of the European Union.

The LL Route is set to connect Afghanistan through Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia to the Black Sea through Turkey.

Kazakh officials have said that the scale of Kazakhstan’s trade in 2015 to Afghanistan has reached to $ 375 million and it would further increase with the inauguration of the chambers of commerce in Kabul.
