KABUL (SW) – Former President Hamid Karzai has said that he will not take part in any ‘government formation’ hours after his name was added to the High Council for National Reconciliation.

A statement issued by his office said he would work for peace only as a citizen.

The announcement came as President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani inked a decree approving a list of 48 proposed members for the ‘High Council for National Reconciliation’ led by Abdullah Abdullah for peace talks with the Taliban.

Hamid Karzai was mentioned as a member right on the top of the list.

Among others, the list include some prominent figures such as former vice president Karim Khalili, former deputy chief executive Mohammad Mohaqiq, former vice president Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, Hizb-e-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Jamiat-e-Islami leader Salahuddin Rabbani.
