KABUL (SW): The 7th Winter Music Festival has kicked-off at the Afghanistan National Music Institute (ANMI) here on Wednesday.
According to the organizers, promoting young talent is the main objective of this festival. The festival would continue for 7 days during which music students from Herat, Bamyan and Kabul would participate. Live orchestra and solo performances would feature in this festivity.
Naser Ahmad Sarmast, head of the ANMI, while inaugurating the event, said that the Institute has launched the winter music festival to promote young talent and music. “The festival provides an opportunity for students from provinces to learn more about music instruments in Kabul”, added Sarmast.
Sarmast expressed that ANMI offers friendly environment where families can enroll their boys and girls for music learning.
During the festival, artists from the ANMI would be selected for a European tour to present the Afghan music. To ensure equal opportunity, 50 percent of the performers at this festival will be female.
The institute has 150 young artists, and it is administered by the Ministry of Education.
