KABUL (SW): According to official estimates, the capital city Kabul witnessed up to 342 security incidents in the past month and a half.
Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (Mo), told Salam Watandar that the security forces have foiled bids for a number of terrorist attacks in the city, yet there has been a surge in security incidents in the city. He said up to 566 people have been arrested in connection with these crimes.
He added 22 criminals are arrested on charges of kidnappings, 13 suspect arrested for car lifting and 42 arms have been seized in this connection. Rahimi informed that the security forces have thwarted at least 4 major terrorist attacks that could have caused havoc.
The MoI spokesman added that plans are in place to further improve security in the capital city.
Meanwhile, analysts are skeptical about state of affairs. Ghafaz Gardezi, an expert on security affairs, argued that the overall security of the capital has deteriorated. He charged that some policemen collaborate with the criminals while poverty and poor law and order situation are also compromising peace.
Two days ago, ten members of a family were killed in cold blood in the capital’s Kher Khana neighborhood.
