KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday inked a deal with the private firm, Global Medical Partnership, for chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients in Kabul.
Ferozuddin Feroz, minister at the MoPH, said on the occasion at least 20,000 Afghans get infected with cancer, and up to 15000 of them lose their lives due to lack of treatment facilities. It is worth noticing, a cancer treatment center with different sort of treatment facilities was inaugurated in Kabul two years ago.
The minister said up to $ 25 million have been earmarked for this center. This facility is set to be established at the Jamhoriat Hospital in Kabul.
It is hoped the center would be established within a year, and would be able to treat up to 3000 patients per year.
