KABUL (SW): Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has underlined the need to jointly fight terrorism with Afghanistan.
The Iranian Minister expressed concerns over surge in extremist and terrorist activities in the region. Zarif arrived in Kabul on Sunday on an official visit. Addressing a joint press conference with his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani, Zarif said there is a need to jointly fight extremism, terrorism and narcotics.
On his term, the host Salahuddin Rabbani pronounced terrorism a mutual threat for the stability of Afghanistan and Iran, the region and the world. He stressed the Muslim world should unite against the menace of terrorism without differentiating between the ‘good and bad’ terrorists.
Heading a high-level delegation, the Iranian FM is also scheduled to meet President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. Matters related to trade, investment and Afghan refugees in Iran are likely to feature in the agenda.
