KABUL (SW): Shortage of community prayer halls in the capital Kabul has irked many residents.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, a number of Kabul residents said there are not enough community prayer halls in the city, and the available handful lack many basic facilities like running water, enough chairs etc. Eman and Fareeba, two such resident informed that the community prayer hall in Kher Khana needs urgent attention of the officials.
Rahela Kohistani, director civic services and cultural affairs section at the Kabul Municipality, said in this regard that there are some problems, but the government has tried hard to provide services to the citizens.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs (MoUDA) laid foundation stone for a new community hall in the capital’s Khushal Khan Maina. The MoUDA officials hope this new addition would help solve the issues caused by lack of community prayer halls to some extent.
According to the Kabul Municipality, there are up to 12 community prayer halls in the capital city, and work is underway to develop more.
