KABUL (SW): Kabul remains a dangerous and unsafe place for businessmen and trade, speakers told the 3rd Business Climate Monitoring Conference here on Tuesday.

In this conference organized by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), speakers claimed that Kabul is the most unsafe province for the businessmen in the country. Atiqullah Nasrat, head of executive board of the ACCI, said unfortunately the capital of the country is most unsafe place from security point of view for the businessmen. According the Nasrat, after Kabul, other major provinces such as Balkh, Nangarhar, Kandahar and Herat do not provide any security for investors and businessmen.

Khan Jan Alokozai, deputy president of the ACCI, urged the government to bring to justice the organized gangs involved in kidnapping and harassing businessmen.

The ACCI officials announced the outcomes of their fresh survey about the business environment. The survey is based on the views of investors and businessmen from Kabul, Balkh, Kandahar, Nangarhar and Herat provinces.

Atiqullah Nasrat said based on their findings the overall business environment had improved in the last quarter of 2016 compared to its equivalent in 2015, but the improvement was meagre and the many indicators still remain negative.

The ACCI survey also highlighted issues about poor infrastructure, electricity, security and transportation. The ACCI has urged the government to pay attention to the issues faced by businessmen and traders.
