Kabul reels from deadly twin-bombing

06/09/2018

KABUL (SW) – In the wake of Wednesday’s deadly bombing in Kabul, security officials have urged people to avoid gathering around in sensitive areas.

Twin blasts in the capital’s Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood on Wednesday claimed 26 lives and left 90 more people wounded. According to the officials, a large crowd gathered at the site of first blast, and did now allow the police to perform their duty freely. And, minutes later a second blast caused havoc.

Hashmat Stanikzai, spokesman for the police in Kabul, told Salam Watandar the security officials at the site of the first blast asked the crowd to disperse, but the people there did not cooperate. He lamented that the second blast took place in this while.

However, a number of Kabul residents stressed it is their duty to reach out for those in need. They noted the security forces should be vigilant enough to reach to the site of tragedy immediately.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, a total of 26 people got killed and up to 90 got wounded in the twin-bombings. Among the casualties were two journalists associated with the Tolo News.
