KABUL (SW): As the capital city’s population swells to four million, the Kabul Municipality on Thursday promised a pioneering metro bus service project.
Abdullah Habibzai, Kabul Mayor, announced on Thursday the ground work for the first phase of metro service has begun. He said best quality service would be provided to the citizens.
“The first metro bus would serve on the Saray Shamali to Baraki Square in the city, work on it has begun and people would see it in practice early next year”, he said while announcing the awarding of 16 new contracts to private firms for road construction stretching to some 285 kilometres in the city. The Mayor said reforms in revenue collection has boosted daily income at the entry points from AFN 300, 000 to AFN 3 million per day.
Sarwar Danish, second Vice President, urged Kabul residents to own the city, and help the government keep it clean and green. Kabul Municipality has also promised to develop six new parks in the city.
