KABUL (SW): The army chiefs of Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the top commander of NATO have met in Kabul.
Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, told Salam Watandar that the meeting began yesterday (Monday) and continued for two days. According to Gen. Waziri, the fight against terrorism and narcotics is the focus of the meeting.
Ge. John Nicholson, Commander of the U.S. and the NATO forces in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, Afghanistan’s Army Chief, Gen. Sharif Yaftali, and Army Chiefs of Staff of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan attended the meeting.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with the Army chiefs of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on Monday, and called on them to increase their cooperation with the Afghan government in the security sector.
