KABUL (SW): The country’s maiden T10 cricket tournament has concluded at the capital Kabul’s Zarmulwal Cricket ground.
As many as 24 cricket clubs from the capital participated in this two-week long tournament of 10-over format. The final match ended in a draw due to shortage of time.
Batting first, the Zarmulal cricket club pile-up a decent total of 92 runs in the given ten overs. The opponent, Kabul youth cricket club, worked hard till the last over when 11 runs were required of six balls. In this nail-biter, the Kabul youth required only four runs in the last three balls.
However, a controversial decision by the umpire interrupted the play, and consumed a lot of the time, resulting in the management t declare both sides as joint winners of the maiden event. Aziz Khan was named as man of the match for taking three wickets in the final.
For his impressive all-round performance, Shafiullah Ghafari – who took ten wickets and scored 110 runs in the event, was declared man of the tournament. Roshan Zarmulwal was crowned as best batsman for his over 200 runs.
The Zarmulwa cricket association is a pioneering private body equipped with an academy and cricket stadium that has been organizing a variety of cricket events namely the Ramadan cup, and night matches under floodlights.
