KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Urban Development Affairs (MoUDA) on Saturday organized the 4th National Cities Conference at the Arg (Presidential Palace) aimed at heading towards sustainable cities across Afghanistan.
Syed Sadat Mansur Naderi, minister for the MoUDA, said on the occasion the conference was meant to share views, experiences and theories on areas related to urban planning such as management of water resources, environment, natural disasters, economy and promotion of the urban culture. He expressed optimism the conference would be successful in devising new strategies on this front.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said in his remarks that there should be fundamental reforms in all cities, and elections should be held to appoint mayors. He underlined the need to reclaim encroached state property across the country, and stressed governors, mayors and police chiefs should have uniformed approach towards it.
Speaker on the occasion highlighted that the proposals shared in the previous National Cities Conference have had positive impacts.
