SHEBERGHAN (SW): A number of teachers in Jawzjan province have claimed that the provincial directorate of education is asking for bribes for appointments.
The teachers asserted corruption has deeply penetrated in the directorate of education where officials ask for bribe for every matter. Abdul Qudoos, a teacher in the province, told Salam Watandar that no fundamental change is likely to come here as the directorate for education is marred with corruption. He lamented that no serious attention is paid to the teachers’ welfare across the country.
Taj Mohammad, another teacher in the province, noted that there is no mechanism for transparency in Jawzjan’s directorate for education, and the vacant posts are likely to be occupied by those individuals having ties with the officials or willing to pay bribe.
On the other hand, Abdul Hai Yashin, the head for the provincial directorate for education, stated that the allegations leveled against the directorate are baseless. He went on to say that only those candidates who have passed the examination would earn the new posts.
In the meantime, Mohammad Reza Ghafori, the spokesperson for the governor in the province, noted that the teachers’ recruitment test was held fairly. He added that anybody found guilty of receiving bribe would be punished by the courts.
