MAIMANA (SW): Jamila, the woman who killed one of the attackers who broke into her house to allegedly rape her in northern Faryaab province five months ago, has said that her case has remained unsolved at the judicial institutions since.
She has moved from her village to the provincial capital Maimana City along with her 80 years old husband and 6 children.
She said that if the local officials in the province, be it the security or judicial institutions, did not fairly determine fate of her case, she would commit suicide along with her children.
She fears that one of her attackers, Mohammad Hassan, who was injured when she shot him on the night of the attack, is roaming freely after spending a few months in prison.
She said that once she would return to her village in Garziwan district, she would be killed by Mohammad Hasssan’s relatives or immediate family members.
Her husband, Mullah Mesri, told Salam Watandar that he voted in the Presidential Election in 2014 hoping that the new government would ensure justice and listen to the voice of the poor but it seems as if the voice of the miserable families always falls to the deaf ears. He also expressed fears for the security of his family.
Sayed Anwar Sadaat, Governor of Faryaab however, has said that he has spoken in person with Jamila several times. He added that the security forces would do their best to ensure security of Jamila and her family.
Sebghatullah Mushfiq, an official at the provincial prosecutor’s office, said that the government would consider her case as soon as it is referred to them.
According to Jamila, five months ago, two armed thieves broke into her house in the middle of the night in a bid to rape her but she resisted and shot one of the attacks dead while the other got injured.
