Italy coach Ventura fired; who is next candidate?

16/11/2017

KABUL (SW): The Italian Football Federation has sacked the Italy national team coach Ventura. Gian Piero Ventura has been sacked as a coach of Italy after failing to guide the Italian national team to grab a place for the next summer’s World Cup in Russia 2018.

Italy lost a playoff to Sweden, 1-0 on aggregate, on Monday, losing the chance to move to the World Cup of 2018. After this defeat, Ventura announced that he would not resign from his post and eventually he was fired by the Italian Football Federation.

Now, one of the biggest and most important tasks of the Italian Football Federation will be the choice of replacing Azzurri’s coach Ventura. There are many options among which Carlo Ancelotti is the first choice, a coach who has gain fame in all the five European Leagues.

Another choice is Antonio Conte, who previously also managed Azzuri and could bring them to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016. He is currently in charge of Chelsea, but after having won the league title in last season’s continental league, his reputation is at stake in this season.

Another good choice is Gian Piero Gasperini. When Conte became Chelsea coach in 2016, Gasperini was one of the main choices for his successor for the national team coach. But in the strange decision Ventura was chosen instead. He became the coach for Atlanta, and his team won the third place in the league. Massimiliano Allegri and Roberto Mancini were also mentioned as possible choices for the Italian national football team coach.
