KABUL (SW): Mohammad Ismail Khan, a Jihadi figure and the former Minister of Water and Energy, called on the President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, and the CEO of the National Unity Government, Abdullah Abdullah to resign and that an interim government should be formed until the next election.
It is impossible to have transparent and timely elections with the presence of two powers in the structure of the government, he added.
Speaking at a gathering on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the uprising of 24 Hoot (15 March) in Herat province, he also called on Atta Mohammad Noor, the dismissed governor of Balkh to stay firm in his position against the Presidential Palace and not to take any action without the decision of the Jamiat-e Islami party.
Referring to Taliban in part of his speech, the former Minister of Water and Energy, Ismail Khan said that if they do not talk with the government, they can sit down with Mujahidin for a peace talk to seek a solution for a legitimate government in future.
Ismail Khan added that the security forces are fighting the Taliban on many fronts and if the government wants the Mujahidin are ready to defend the country alongside the security forces.
At the end of his speech, he urged the international community not to call the Mujahidin warlords and should support them.
Meanwhile, at the 7th commutation of death anniversary of Abdul Rahman Sayedkhili, a former commander of Kunduz province and a Jahidi figure, Mohammad Omar Daudzai, a member of Council for Protection and Stability in Afghanistan (CPSA) said that he would not allow the NUG to last even one day more than its legal timeframe.
Mr. Daudzai added that efforts are underway by some people behind the scene to extend the NUG timeframe.
At the same ceremony, Mohammad Younus Qanooni, the former vice president, also criticized the plans to hand over some provinces to the Taliban saying that the plan would be a breakdown of Afghanistan and, if implement, people will stand against it.
Gulbaddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hezb-e Islami in a conversation with New York Times said that the government would provide some autonomous areas in a number of provinces to the Taliban. He said that he has given this plan to the President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Hekmatyar has called these areas as “provinces of peace” adding that the Afghan military forces must leave those areas. Hekmatyar has emphasized that President Ashraf Ghani has supported the plan and he is hoping that the implementation of this plan will bring peace and stability to the country.
