KABUL (SW): Kazuo Ishiguro, the British writer has won the 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature on Thursday in Sweden.

The author of "The Remains of the Day" novel, born in Nagasaki, won the award for his emotional work "that uncovers the abyss that lies beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world”.

In order to be chosen as the recipient of the award, Kazuo Ishiguro won more than half the votes of the Academy members. The Nobel academy always chooses its winner among some 350 nominees nominated by literary experts and former Nobel laureates from all over the world.

The prize is intended to honor Alfred Nobel's wish that "the person who has created the most important work in the field of literature in an ideal direction" should be able to win the prize.

The 832 thousand pound prize has since been awarded to 113 writers since 1901, 14 of which were women, 28 were written in English and 77 were won by literary prose.
