LASHKARGAH (SW): An aerial raid by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has killed and wounded a number of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) members in southern Helmand province, officials said on Monday.
ISAF is yet to comment on the incident. Nabijan Mullahkhail, Helmand Security Chief and local Taliban have confirmed the incident.
Locals have said that the incident took place late on Sunday in the Dreg area of the province. Around 50 ANF members and militants have been reportedly killed and wounded in this attack. It is said that the ANF members had taken a convoy of the militants under siege when the ISAF forces hit both from the air.
Mullahkhail has said that investigations were underway into the incident.
Meanwhile, Shah Mehmood Ashna, Spokesman for the Provincial Police Department has said a clean-up operation has begun in Sestani area of the province. He claimed the government forces have killed two leading militant commanders, two more have been wounded and one Taliban commander has been nabbed alive.
