KABUL (SW): Over 10,000 Afghan refugees are forcefully repatriated by Iran last week, an official confirmed on Sunday.
Hafeez Ahmad Miakhail, media advisor for the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, informed Salam Watandar the repatriation of Afghan refugees from Iran and Pakistan has expedited. He added over 10,000 refugees have been repatriated from Iran alone, and an overwhelming majority of them had entered Iran illegally.
He informed the joint committee of Afghanistan and Iran is working extensively to streamline the registration and legal movement of refugees, and counter forced deportations. Miakhail underlined the rate of forced deportation is higher in Iran in comparison to Pakistan.
The MoRR official further said up to eight thousand Afghans have been deported by Turkey this year so far. He added Turkish officials have been invited to visit Afghanistan for discussion on the issue of refugees.
