KABUL (SW): The International Criminal Court will decide to send a prosecutor to investigate the cases of war crimes in Afghanistan by April 1, 2018, the ‘Transitional Justice Coordination Group’ said in a press conference today (Tuesday) in Kabul.
According to the officials of the TJCG, by the end of January 2018, ICC has received 794 complaints on behalf of 1.17 million victims of war crimes.
Rahim Jami, a member of TJCG, said the war has laws under the resolutions of ICC, and these laws control the hostile acts, therefore, any violation of these laws will result in ICC’s prosecution.
Humaira Saqib, another member of TJCG, said “among all the cases of war crimes and crimes against humanity”, only a few limited cases will be investigated including cases involving domestic violence and rape.
Afghanistan became a member of ICC in 2003, and the cases which have occurred after this date will be reviewed and investigated by the ICC.
