KABUL (SW) – The Taliban and the Afghan government delegations in the Qatari capital Doha are yet to finalize agenda for the landmark direct talks.
Ghulam Farooq Majroh, a member of the government delegation, told Salam Watandar that the contact groups of the two sides continue to work on the agenda setting. He said once this task is completed, the two sides would move ahead towards the negotiations.
Another member of the government delegation, Nader Naderi has said work on the mechanism and agenda setting continued. He said it is important to have a clear mechanism and agenda to take the process forward without any mediators.
Separately, defense minister Assadullah Khalid told journalists in Kabul on Thursday that there has been a significant surge in the Taliban assaults with the launch of intra-Afghan talks. He said as a good-will gesture, the security forces remain on defensive posture in the wake of these attacks.
