Inter-club futsal tournament kicks off in Kabul

KABUL (SW): The inter-club futsal tournament kicked-off in Kabul on Tuesday that would see eight top clubs of the capital compete for the title.

The tournament is also part of the gearing-up efforts for the upcoming selection camp for the national squad. Eight selective clubs that showed impressive performance during the games played during the holy month of Ramadan would take part in this tournament.

According to the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), the winners and runner-ups of the four tournaments played during Ramadan i.e. tournaments organized by the Afghanistan Football Federation, National Olympic Committee, Maula Ali Gymnasium and Omid Green City would fight for the title. The AFF has further said that the games would begin daily at 3 pm in the afternoon.

The eight teams have been placed in two groups for the tournament that would last for a week. The winner squad would be declared as the ultimate champion of the Ramadan tournaments and would subsequently be selected for the national team’s camp.  

On the first day, Shams Mirzai team defeated Lemar team while matches between Fifa team and Stars as well as Amarkhail team and Siddiqui team ended in draw.
