KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission has once again delayed the partial announcement of the initial Wolesi Jirga (lower house) election results.
The IEC stated on Friday it has delayed the electoral results to ensure separation of rigged votes from the genuine ones in a number of provinces. Mirza Mohammad Haqparast, deputy spokesman for the IEC, said a day earlier the initial results of 10 provinces would be announced on Friday. He said this would be followed by gradual announcements for more provinces.
The WJ polls were held last month across Afghanistan except the restive Ghazni province.
