PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Local officials in northern Baghlan province have informed of infighting between two Taliban shadow governors in Dand-e-Ghori district in the province.
Amir Gul Hassankheyl, the acting police chief in the province, told Salam Watandar that the infighting broke between Mawlawi Halal, the current Taliban shadow governor, and Mawlawi Younus, former Taliban shadow governor in the province.
He said the infighting took place in Dand-e-Ghori district on Saturday. He added that 4 men belonging to Mawlawi Younus have been killed and 7 more have been injured from both sides during the clashes.
Hassankheyl said that the infighting took place over collecting taxes and division of areas under their control.
Local official said that the residents in Dand-e-Ghori district have been fed-up with the Taliban’s cruelty. A number of these residents told Salam Watandar that the Taliban get their equipment by collecting Ushr and Zakaat (religious tax) from the residents.
Haji Kheyal a resident said that their village has turned into a battlefield and everyday they witness rockets and bullets being fired.
A week ago, two Taliban commanders fought each other over collecting Usher from the residents and after arguing with each other infighting ensued, which claimed the lives of 13 Taliban insurgents.
