KABUL(SW): Amar Sinha, Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan, said that the culprit behind attack on Indian Consulates in Balkh province, is the common enemy of both Afghanistan and India, and both countries know their common enemy.
Following the attack, he travelled to Balkh where he appreciated Afghan security forces’ role securing the diplomats and ending the standoff.
He said that no casualties have been inflicted upon Indians who work at the consulates and India would soon resume its diplomatic functions in the office.
He added that such assailants cannot disrupt the ties between Afghanistan and India.
He further said that India would provide medical assistance to those who have been injured in the incident.
The armed men attacked the Indian Consulates in Mazar-e-Sharif in Balkh on Saturday in the evening, which ensued a 24 hours prolonged fight between security forces and the insurgents.
One security forces personnel was killed and 9 others, including 3 civilians got injured.
Razaq Qaderi, Police Chief in Balkh, said that since the Consulate is located in a residential area, the assailants managed to attack it and kept the forces engaged for so long.
He charged that some local individuals associated with the government might have collaborated with terrorists to carry out such heinous attacks.
No group has taken responsibility for this incident yet.
