India pledges $ 31 million for development projects in Afghanistan

KABUL (SW): India on Tuesday pledged to fund 108 development projects worth $ 31 million in Afghanistan.

These projects will be implemented in 31 provinces of Afghanistan.

Musfata Mastur, the Minister of Economy, said at the signing ceremony for the agreements at the CEO’s office today (Tuesday), these projects will be implemented in the irrigation, energy and electricity sectors, including projects for women empowerment. He said it will also provide job opportunities for a large number of citizens as well.

Ibrahim Shinawari, Head of the Ministry of Education, said that out of the total of 108 projects, 46 projects are in the education sector worth $ 11 million.

Abdullah Abdullah, the CEO of National Unity Government (NUG), said that these projects should be executed on high standards, and according to the desires of the people of Afghanistan. According to Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan seeks good relations with all its neighbors, however, the cross-border shelling on Afghan soil by Pakistan will not have a better outcome.

India is one of the leading countries busy in rebuilding Afghanistan, and has contributed more than $ 2 billion in various sectors over the past years.
