KABUL (SW): Monograph, a specialist work of writing on a single subject is considered as the final and arguably the most important assignment for a student before obtaining the degree but it has been observed that repetition of subjects and foul play have seriously marred its image.
It has been observed that many students get away in approving a subject for monograph that has already been worked upon or a subject for whom already furnished content is available in the market.
Such factors are detrimental for the true purpose behind making students research and compile content for a subject.
Dr. Ali Amiri, a faculty member at the Ibn-Sina University told Salam Watandar that the fact that many of the graduated students actually are ‘illiterate’ proves that something is wrong with the system and the monographs.
He went on to say that the education department was not immune to the widespread corruption across the country.
Hekmatullah Hikmati is an individual who is dubbed as a master of writing monographs for the students.
Talking to Salam Watandar, he said students from private and public universities approach him likewise. He added that the Ministry of Higher Education compels the students to prepare a monograph in their final semesters but has actually never thought about the reasons forcing students to approach a professional writer for the purpose.
Adil Zada is another professional monograph writer who blamed the students for being too lazy and ignorant to use their own wisdom to write a monograph. Students pay from $ 300 to $ 800 for a furnished monograph.
To counter this practice, it was stressed that tough subjects and rules should be introduced to compel students to work hard for their monographs.
It was also noted that those writing monographs for students for money should also be held accountable.
