KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Complaint Commission is working on strategy enabling the Independent Election Commission to proceed with the recount of votes.
According to the IECC, the recount is needed at some 2938 polling stations in a number of provinces including Nangarhar, Paktia, Kunar and Helmand. The IECC commissioner, Mohammad Qasim Elyasi, said this strategy would help improve coordination between the electoral commissions.
He added some 391 complaints were registered till Saturday with the IECC mainly from Laghman, Panjshir, Badadkhshan and Faryab provinces. Elyasi said no recount would take place in eight provinces.
Meanwhile, the IEC spokesman Abdul Azizi Ebrahimi, told Salam Watandar that the IECC has been asked to provide a clarification in connection with the recount. He added this operation requires an action plan, and the IECC should share that program with the IEC.
