KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission announced on Sunday to begin updating the voter lists for the forthcoming presidential polls.
Abdul Azizi Ibrahimi, deputy spokesman for the IEC, said this move is in line with the renewed electoral schedule, and would commence on June 08. According to the IEC officials, the voter registration for Wolesi Jirga (lower house) polls in Ghazni as well as for the provincial councils would also begin on June 08.
He clarified the biometric verification of voters would not be used in the fresh voter registration drive.
