KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission on Saturday vowed to change and improve the public awareness campaign in connection with the forthcoming presidential polls.
Mawlana Mohammad Abdullah, a commissioner at the IEC, told a moot in connection with consultation with political parties and civil society organizations that changes are needed to move away from the previously ‘commercial’ strategy of the electoral commission.
He warned if the turnout remained low during the forthcoming presidential polls, the situation might lead to further chaose.
Representatives of a number of political and CSOs shared views and recommendations with the IEC, and urged the electoral commissions to strive towards fair and inclusive presidential elections.
