KABUL (SW): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday launched candidate registration process for the forthcoming district and parliamentary elections.
Abdul Badi Sayad, Chairman IEC, said on the occasion the electoral commission is prepared to commence the registration of the aspiring candidates. He added the process would continue till 12 June. The electoral commission chief said the candidates can obtain registration froms from the IEC offices across the country and return after filling essential details.
The IEC chief stressed efforts would be ensured to uphold the credibility, independence and impartiality of the elections. He added the population of eligible voters all over the country except of the four recently established districts are estimated.
According to the Sayad, so far up to 30.2 million eligible voters have registered with the IEC.
