KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission on Monday announced schedule for the forthcoming key presidential elections.
Gulajan Abdulbadi Sayad, IEC chairman, told a presser in the capital Kabul the polls would take place on April 20 next year. He said the registration of new potential voters would commence next week.
Sayad said the elections for the Wolesi Jirga (lower house of the parliament) seats from Ghazni province would take place along with the presidential elections. He added the district and provincial council polls would take place after that in 2019.
Based on the schedule announced by the IEC, the results for the presidential election would be announced on June 15.
