IDPs in Panjsher complain about lack of food, shelter

PANJSHER (SW) – Hundreds of displaced families forced by the raging war to flee Badakhshan province have taken shelter in Pansjher province.

Some of these displaced people said they have left behind women and children, and are in desperate need for aid and support. The number of displaced families reaches to 300. They moved from Karan Wa Manjan district in Badakhshan to Paryan district in Panjsher.

They said the security forces have been engaged in deadly clashes with the Taliban in their hometown for the past four months.

They said the aid provided to them by the government and local philanthropists is not sufficient.

In the meantime, Kamaluddin Nezami, provincial governor, has acknowledged the issues faced by these displaced people. They complained about lack of food and shelter.

Locals in Pansjher also fear about spillovers of militancy from neighboring Badaskhsahn via the Anjuman pass between the two provinces
