IDLG’s Audit Officer sentenced to 5 years in prison

KABUL (SW): The audit officer of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) was sentenced to 5 years in prison and a paid fine of $13,000 in a public hearing today (Wednesday) at the primary court against corruption in Kabul.

The audit officer of IDLG who was sent to Herat city to audit the yearly activities of Municipality of Herat city, sometimes ago, had been arrested along with two others of his colleagues on charges of corruption obtaining $13000 bribe.

Abdul Hadi Wasiq, head judge of the primary court against corruption today summoned the IDLG audit officer and sentenced him to 5 years in prison and a paid fine of $13000 while the two other defendants were found innocent for lack of adequate proof.

This is not a final sentence and the sentenced person has the right to appeal in the higher courts, Judge Wasiq remarked while announcing the sentence.
