KABUL (SW): The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) has suspended activities in Afghanistan following a deadly attack on its staff members in Jawzjan.
Ramin Ayaz, ICRC country spokesman, told Salam Watandar the ICRC has suspended all travels of the employees until investigations of yesterday’s attack on the employees are complete.
On Wednesday, unknown men gun downed 6 ICRC employees in the Turkman Quduq area of Qosh Tapa district in Jawzjan province.
The incident has been widely condemned nationally and internationally. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive Officer, said in a message that this is the act of the enemies of the nation.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but provincial authorities have blamed pro Daesh insurgents for it. Daesh has not made any statement while the Taliban have condemned the attack.
