KABUL (SW) – Presidential candidate Ibrahim Alakozay on Thursday charged the State Builders electoral team led by President Ashraf Ghani for breaking the laws.
Addressing a press conference here, he said President Ghani wants to utilize state resources for his election campaign through latest appointments in the government. He stressed the National Unity Government leaders should be held accountable for the recent attacks by the Taliban across the country.
“You (President Ghani) established new ministries, why? This is all part of the campaign. Which law allowed you to do so? You are a lawbreaker”, he said.
When contacted, Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the presidency, told Salam Watandar that President Ghani is the serving head of state, and has the right and authority to appoint people based on requirements. He added the presidential candidates should present their manifestoes to the people instead of criticizing the government.
This comes as a number of other candidates have also blamed the State Builders as well as Peace and Integration led by Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah for using state resources for the election campaign.
