KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has hailed the bravery of the Special Forces who managed to liberate 35 people from the captivity of the Taliban in Ghazni province.
Addressing the gathering in this connection, he directed the security forces to continue their operations until peace is achieved. Ghani said he is not King Shuja (Emir of Afghanistan 1803 – 1809 and 1839 – 1842) or Mohammad Yaqub Khan (Emir of Afghanistan 1879) to sign every agreement, and would only approve peace in which the role of the security forces is clearly marked.
Ghani said those forcing others to the negotiation table should not talk about dissolution of the security forces, and if they are brave enough they should prove them on the battlefield.
He said the Afghan forces are moving towards self-reliance, and a peace deal without clear role for the security forces is not acceptable. The President stressed the security forces, particularly the Special Forces are striving not for salary or perks, but for the nation, system and national interests.
