TAKHAR (SW): Humaira is 20 years old and nearly two months ago she came from Dasht-e Qala to Yangi Qala district to move in with her family. She said she has repeatedly been raped by Arbab Rauf’s men. Arbab Rauf is a local police commander in Takhar. She told that every time they anaesthetized her before they raped her, and most often made her use cocaine and other drugs.
Humaira told Salam Watandar that she had been married to Islamuddin for six months and her husband was the bodyguard of Arbab Rauf. She filed a complained against Arbad Rauf with the governor’s office saying that she cannot go back to her father’s house fearing that Arbab Rauf will hurt her.
“Four months my husband’s friends raped me. I told this to my husband, but he threatened me to death and said that I had to give in to his master’s request; he was forcing me to sleep with his friends”, Humaira told Salam Watandar.
Mohammadullah father of Humaira said the local authorities of Yangi Qala did not take their complaints and finally, with the help of Malik Tatar, the commander of the local forces of Yangi Qala, he has come to Taliqan to get justice for his daughter.
Though, Arbab Rauf denied the allegations and said that Humaira had escaped her husband’s house, and he has reported this issue to the Dast-e Qala authorities. He said that Malik Tatar wanted to defame him and hence he is using Humaira to make a case against him and bring him down.
But, Malik Tatar denied the allegations of Arbab Rauf and said that Humaira and her family came to him for help and he intends no harm to anyone.
Khalil Asir, the spokesperson for the Takhar Police said a case has been opened at the local Takhar administration and the authorities will prosecute the case of Humaira against Arbab Rauf and his men.
In the last week in Takhar, this is the second woman who claimed to have been raped by the powerful people and gunmen. Farida, a 27-year-old woman claimed four days ago that Malik Tatar’s soldiers had raped her, a claim that was rejected by Malik Tatar later.
